Can Guinea Pigs Eat Strawberries?

Yes, guinea pigs can safely eat strawberries, including both wild and garden varieties. Strawberries contain around 5% sugar, so they should be given as an occasional treat and never replace leafy greens and vegetables in your guinea pig’s daily diet.

Benefits of Strawberries for Guinea Pigs

  • Tasty, low-sugar treat β€” Lower in sugar than blueberries, grapes, and many other fruits.
  • Rich in vitamin C β€” An essential nutrient guinea pigs cannot produce themselves. Strawberries are especially high, with about seven times more vitamin C than blueberries and 20 times more than grapes.
  • Contains fibre β€” Supports healthy digestion.
  • Edible tops and leaves β€” Strawberry greens are nutrient-rich and may be even healthier than the fruit itself.
