Can Guinea Pigs Eat Brussels Sprouts

Guinea pigs can eat brussels sprouts but as they are high in oxalic acid as well as being a cruciferous type of vegetable they should only have them a treat very occasionally and just one sprout per guinea pig.

High quantities of oxalic acid can lead to bladder stones so it’s important too keep foods with oxalates to a minimum.

Cruciferous vegetables can cause gas and bloating, so guinea pigs shouldn’t eat brussels sprouts or other cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage or broccoli in large quantities.
